Carín León shared his first new music of 2026. The Mexican superstar teamed with countryman Xavi for the track “La Morrita.”

“La Morrita” comes on the heels of Carín León’s traditional holiday gift for his fans, a double album release — Chapayeka and Chapayeka (Puro Chucky). León’s record Palabra de To’s (Seca) is currently in contention for the Best Regional Mexican Music Album (Including Tejano) at the 2026 awards. Carín clocked his first Grammy win for his LP, Boca Chueca, Vol. 1, in 2025.

The prolific artist is now back with “La Morrita” featuring Xavi, who represents the next generation of Música Mexicana. The pair co-wrote the song with Alex Hernández, Fabio Gutiérrez, Luis Mexia and Édgar Barrera, who also produced the track. Press materials described it as “a celebration of Mexican pride and contemporary courtship.”

“La Morrita” sees León and Xavi putting a modern spin on the traditional Mexican folk style of huapango. The press release further detailed “La Morrita”:

With an irreverent yet playful attitude, León and Xavi modernize traditional huapango with contemporary lyrical storytelling, fusing old-school courtship with digital culture: Instagram, flowers, and designer bags. The infectious chorus positions the track as an instant anthem on dance floors, reaffirming León’s position as the global ambassador of Música Mexicana by bringing Mexico’s intrinsic rhythms to the world stage without losing authenticity.
