The Man. Local hero Bruce Springsteen was in attendance and performed several songs with the Tangiers Blues Band.
Springsteen began the evening by addressing the audience in the recently renovated 750 capacity room which was made up of winners of an Asbury Park residents-only ticket lottery and guests of the space’s owner iStar (which included actor Hugh Jackman). They began with bluesy covers of “Life During Wartime” by Talking Heads and “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)” by Beastie Boys, and then played up their pending special guest with “I’m Waiting For The Man” by The Velvet Underground.
