Bruce Hornsby & Chris Thile Perform ‘Mandolin Rain’ On ‘Live From Here’

Live From Here with Chris Thile continues to roll out video of Bruce Hornsby’s appearance on the public radio program this past Saturday in Louisville. The latest is of Hornsby, Thile, Mike Elizondo, Rob Moose and the Louisville Orchestra performing the pianist’s poignant classic “Mandolin Rain.”

For the Kentucky edition of Live From Here, Hornsby plays the version of “Mandolin Rain” he recorded with bluegrass legend and Kentucky native Ricky Skaggs, featured on the duo’s first collaborative album in 2007. The record contains bluegrass reworkings of Hornsby compositions as well as Skaggs originals and bluegrass traditionals. The duo renewed their collaborative relationship for a tour in 2017.
