The Breakfast Covers ‘Stash’ By Phish In Bridgeport

While Grateful Dead covers have been all the rage for years in the jam scene, Phish covers from acts that aren’t tribute bands are harder to come by. One jam act that has not only been open to performing songs from the jam quartet, but always knock Phish covers out of the park is Connecticut’s The Breakfast.

Three members of The Breakfast who are also members of Kung Fu recently performed with Phish drummer Jon Fishman at a Bernie Sanders rally in Brooklyn: guitarist Tim Palmieri, drummer Adrian Tramontano and bassist Chris DeAngelis. Back in 2007 Phish bassist Mike Gordon sat-in with The Breakfast at the same show the Connecticut rockers covered Lawn Boy in its entirety.

On Friday night The Breakfast played The Acoustic in Bridgeport, where they performed a cover of Phish’s “Stash.” Palmieri & Co. add just the right amount of tension-and-release to make their “Stash” a winner and we absolutely love the finger tapping Tim uses to end the song. Now that we’ve pulled in you with word of the Phish cover, listen to the rest of Friday’s phenomenal Breakfast show featuring the funk workout “The Chase,” the prog-heavy, shredfest sequence of “Escher’s Etchings (Part 1)” > “Gravity,” the latin-tinged “See The Light” and Talking Heads-esque “Metropolis” thanks to taper Peter Prince:
