Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt, John Prine & More Perform At 2019 Americana Awards

Brandi Carlile, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt and John Prine were among the performers at the 18th annual Americana Honors & Awards ceremony. PBS aired a special featuring musical highlights from the event held in September at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium.

Additional performances featured on the special includes appearances by Our Native Daughters, Mumford & Sons, The Milk Carton Kids, Yola, Mark Erelli & Friends, Joe Henry & Rodney Crowell, Rhiannon Giddens, The War And Treaty, I’m With Her and Elvis Costello. The house band, led by Buddy Miller, featured The McCrary Sisters, Don Was, Jerry Pentecost and others.

The 2019 Americana Honors saw Carlile named Artist Of The Year, while Prine (the two-year reigning Artist Of The Year) won Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year. I’m With Her was named Duo/Group Of The Year and The War And Treaty won the Emerging Act Of The Year award. Rhiannon Giddens and Frank Johnson were given the Legacy of Americana Award. Chris Eldridge was named Instrumentalist Of The Year. The Lifetime Achievement Award For Performance was given to Delbert McClinton. Costello was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award For Songwriting and Staples was honored with the Inspiration Award.
