Brandi Carlile & John Prine Among 2019 Americana Awards Winners
Brandi Carlile and John Prine were among the winners at last night’s Americana Music Association Honors & Awards in Nashville. Carlile was named Artist Of The Year, while Prine (the back-to-back reigning Artist Of The Year) won Album Of The Year for The Tree Of Forgiveness and Song Of The Year for “Summer’s End.”
Other winners last night at The Ryman Auditorium included Duo/Group Of The Year I’m With Her, Emerging Act Of The Year The War And Treaty and Instrumentalist Of The Year Chris Eldridge. The Lifetime Achievement Award For Songwriting was presented to Elvis Costello and the Lifetime Achievement Award For Performance was given to Delbert McClinton.
The Inspiration Award was bestowed upon Mavis Staples, while the Legacy of Americana Award was presented to Rhiannon Giddens and Frank Johnson. Maria Muldaur earned the Trailblazer Award and Felice & Boudleaux Bryant were given the President’s Award.
Prine (with Bonnie Raitt), Staples, Carlile, Costello, I’m With Her, The War & Treaty and others were also among those who performed during last night’s event.
