Bono Guests With Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band In Dublin

One of America’s greatest rock acts Bruce Springsteen – & The E Street Band – were joined by the leader of one of Ireland’s greatest rock acts – Bono of U2 – at Croke Park in Dublin on Sunday night. Bono’s first-ever guest spot with The Boss and The E Street Band came towards the end of the group’s second of two shows at the massive Irish venue.

Springsteen and Bono have a long history that includes Bruce inducting U2 in to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2005 and helping the Irish singer after an accident by leading U2 at a World A.I.D.S. Day performance in 2014. The Boss has sat-in with U2 numerous times between 1987 and 2015, while Bono finally returned the favor on Sunday night.

Bono and Springsteen shared a duet on “Because The Night,” a song Bruce wrote with Patti Smith, towards the end of the E Street Band’s main set in Dublin tonight. Springsteen and Smith played “Because The Night” with U2 back in 2009 at one of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame concerts held at MSG in New York City. The pair split vocal duties equally tonight on a version that featured a scorching guitar solo by Nils Lofgren.

Sunday’s show only included one tour debut and it came at the start of the night as Bruce Springsteen opened the concert with a solo piano version of “Incident On 57th Street.” The Boss bookended the show with solo performances by ending the 31-song concert with a solo acoustic “Thunder Road.” Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band filled the night with 10 songs from 1980’s The River and five from 1984’s Born In The U.S.A. Next up for the group is a show in Scotland on Wednesday night.
