opened a four-concert September 2019 tour of California on Wednesday night at Humphrey’s Concerts By The Bay in San Diego. The Grateful Dead guitarist, along with bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane focused on songs from the Dead’s repertoire over the course of the two-set performance.
The trio began last night’s show with a version of “The Music Never Stopped” that featured “Easy Answers” and The Temptations’ “Standing On Shaky Ground” within. Next, Weir led the group on Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and his own “Gonesville” from 2016’s Blue Mountain. The set continued with the traditional “Deep Elem Blues” and Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter-penned classics “Tennessee Jed” and “Loose Lucy.” Bob Weir & Wolf Bros closed out the frame with the frequently paired “Lost Sailor” and “Saint Of Circumstance.”

Weir and company then dug in on “Cassidy” and “Truckin’.” The trio fit “Fever” into “Truckin'” and then performed “Scarlet Begonias.” The trio went on to play “I Need A Miracle” ahead of Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” and the traditional “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad.” Bob Weir & Wolf Bros said farewell with a “Ripple” encore.
