Bob Weir & Wolf Bros Cover John Prine & Play Grateful Dead Classics With Bagpiper Jori Chisholm In Seattle

dropped by the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on Sunday. Bobby welcomed bagpiper Jori Chisholm for a bevy of Grateful Dead classics and a John Prine tune.

Bob Weir, drummer Jay Lane, bassist Don Was, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and pedal steel guitarist Barry Sless as well as The Wolfpack kicked things off with rowdy “Samson & Delilah” and Sless added tasty stuff to “Mama Tried.” Bobby then honored one of the greatest songwriters of all time in grand fashion with bagpipes by Jori Chisholm as Weir led the troupe through John Prine’s “Great Rain” for the second time this year.

Chisholm, who sat-in with Wolf Bros in 2018 and with RatDog in 2007, stuck around for “She Says” and “Corrina.” The Wolfpack emerged for the latter as well as for a “The Music Never Stopped” that encapsulated “Easy Answers” to end the set.

A Hank Williams cover got the second set underway. “You Win Again” dropped into the Bobby solo cut “Bombs Away.” From there “Casey Jones” rock ‘n’ rolled into the Wolfpack joining Bobby for “Playing In The Band” into “Greatest Story Ever Told” before finishing up “Playin.’”

Although “Hell In A Bucket” was on the setlist, the band segued nicely into “Wharf Rat,” complete with bagpipes and then went into “Hell In A Bucket.” An out of left field “Franklin’s Tower” with The Wolfpack followed. Weir slapped a solo on before Chisholm worked over the bagpipes. The Wolfpack horns brought the tune home.

Bob Weir and Wolf Bros came back out for “Touch Of Grey.” The Wolfpack added a spicy texture to the Grateful Dead hit as the evening’s encore. Listen below:
