Bob Weir continued his busy weekend at Lockn’ festival on Saturday, sitting-in with Twiddle during their performance. The Grateful Dead guitarist was also a featured guest of his Dead & Company band mate Oteil Burbridge during the evening’s Oteil & Friends set.
Bobby’s sit-in with Twiddle included pre-announced guest harmonica player John Popper, as well as guitarist (and one of Oteil’s “Friends”) Eric Krasno joining the collaboration. Keyboardist Eric Finland was filling-in for Twiddle keyboardist Ryan Dempsey. Weir led the musicians through the Grateful Dead favorite “Eyes Of The World.”
Burbridge brought Bobby out to lead performances of his Dead staples “Weather Report Suite” > “Let It Grow” and “Cassidy.” Rounding out Oteil’s impressive group of “Friends” were gutiarists Krasno, Neal Casal and Duane Betts, keyboardists Melvin Seals and Jason Crosby, drummer Jay Lane, saxophonist Kebbi Williams, trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick, trombonist/vocalist Natalie Cressman, saxophonist/vocalist James Casey and vocalists Alfreda Gerald and Lamar Williams Jr.. Weir also helped sing happy birthday to Oteil, who celebrated his 55th yesterday.
