Bob Weir Among Steve Kimock’s Guests At Sweetwater Finale: Full Show Pro-Shot Video
Steve Kimock concluded a run of three Steve Kimock & Friends concerts at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California on Thursday night. The guitarist was joined by a core band of drummer John Kimock, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and bassist Reed Mathis. Multi-instrumentalist Leslie Mendelson, Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and Talking Heads’ founding member Jerry Harrison were among the guests at Sweetwater last night.
The quartet opened with Steve’s “It’s Up To You” and then brought out Mendelson for John’s “Mother’s Song.” Steve then moved over to lap steel for “While We Wait” before the set concluded with “Long Form Part 4” and the beloved “Tongue N Groove.” The second set began with just the four-piece on stage for “One For Brother Mike.” Then, Jerry Harrison and Leslie Mendelson emerged for a “Muddy Waters version” of the Grateful Dead classic “I Need A Miracle.” Weir joined in on the song he co-wrote and stuck around to sing “Bird Song” with Leslie.
Steve, John, Reed, Jeff and Leslie then performed “Satellite City” from the KIMOCK project ahead of a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Crosstown Traffic.” Mendelson moved to center stage for a gorgeous version of Bob Dylan’s “Simple Twist Of Fate” to close out the frame. The core quartet encored with an instrumental pairing of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and the Grateful Dead’s “Terrapin Station.” Watch full show pro-shot video provided by the venue below:
