Bob Dylan continues to roll out previews of his forthcoming collection, Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol.17, due out on January 27 via Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings. The latest is of “Mississippi (Version 2).”

“Mississippi” is one of four tracks written for the Time Out of Mind sessions that did not appear on the multiple Grammy-winning 1997 album. The tune would later land on Dylan’s 2001 LP, Love & Theft.

“Mississippi (Version 2)” was recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami on January 11, 1997 for the Time Out Of Mind sessions. The ’97 outtake is a bluesier version compared to the jangly, folk-rock Love & Theft rendition.
