Hear Bob Dylan’s Original Version Of ‘Not Dark Yet’ From ‘Fragments’ Box Set

Bob Dylan shared version one of “Not Dark Yet” from the sessions for his landmark 1997 album, Time Out Of Mind. The multiple Grammy-winning record is the latest to receive the Bootleg Series treatment with Fragments – Time Out of Mind Sessions (1996-1997): The Bootleg Series Vol.17 set to arrive on January 27 via Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings.

Dylan announced Fragments back in November and shared an alternate take of “Love Sick.” “Love Sick (Version 2)” appears on Disc Three of the collection, which along with Disc Two, contain the alternate versions and outtakes from the Time Out Of Mind sessions.

“Not Dark Yet (Version 1)” appears on Disc Two and was captured at Criteria Studios in Miami on January 11, 1997. “Not Dark Yet,” with its bleak but with a sliver of hope outlook, seems almost more relevant today than it was in 1997. The track arrived with a video directed by Clements Habicht featuring a slide show of black and white photographs. Watch it below:
