Acclaimed vocalist Tony Bennett celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this year. Last night in honor of Bennett’s milestone birthday NBC aired a special concert featuring an all-star lineup of performers including Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan.
The special concert Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet To Come was held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and featured additional performances at other venues around the country as well. Musicians appearing at Radio City included Lady Gaga, k.d. lang, Andrea Bocelli, Diana Krall, Leslie Odom Jr. and others, such as actor Kevin Spacey. Also appearing with the orchestra was beloved musician Stevie Wonder.
The concert was interspersed with tributes by Billy Joel, Elton John and Dylan, each backed by their respective bands at remote locations including Bennett joining Joel at Madison Square Garden and John performing in Las Vegas. Dylan, who was not announced prior to last night’s airing, offered a rendition of the standard “Once Upon A Time.”
The special also saw several birthday wishes shared by a variety of musicians, with The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards even singing a little “Happy Birthday To You” for the 90-year-old crooner who himself also performed. Watch the full episode below:
