The second annual Blue Ox Music Festival will take place at Whispering Pines Campground in Eau Claire, Wisconsin June 9 – 11. Following last month’s initial lineup announcement, organizers have revealed an additional 14 acts set to play the festival including the newly reunited Béla Fleck and the Flecktones.
Other Blue Ox ’16 artists announced today include the legendary Del McCoury Band, who will be joined by special guests, husband and wife duo Shovels & Rope and jamgrass favorites Greensky Bluegrass. Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Charlie Parr, Head for the Hills, Nikki Lane, Jeff Austin Band, The Big Wu, Cactus Blossoms, Sierra Hull and Whiskey Shivers are also set to play Blue Ox this June. The acts announced today join an already impressive lineup featuring Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush and Pert Near Sandstone.
As of now, the Flecktones’ appearance at Blue Ox is just one of two performances on the books for the jam scene legends who last played together in 2012 as the band is confirmed for Telluride Bluegrass as well. However, Bela Fleck, Futureman, Victor Wooten and Howard Levy are soon expected to announce a tour that will span June 1 – 16. Blue Ox Three-Day General Admission tickets are on sale now and include unreserved (first come-first serve) camping and parking for the duration of the festival weekend.
