Black Pumas Serve Up Sweet Sounds On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Black Pumas were the musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday. The band led by frontman Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada performed “Ice Cream (Pay Phone)” for the late night television appearance.

“Ice Cream (Pay Phone)” is the second track off Black Pumas’ second studio album, Chronicles of a Diamond. Co-produced by Burton and Quesada, the record arrived on October 27, 2023 via ATO Records.

Black Pumas shared “Ice Cream (Pay Phone)” on October 24 just ahead of the album’s release. Eric Burton detailed the song.

“When left alone I tend to work in an unorthodox way, where the colors don’t go together quite like you’d expect them to,” he said. “With [‘Ice Cream (Pay Phone)’] the big, distorted guitar doesn’t seem like it should work with how I’m singing, but it sounded so soulful in a way that felt just right to me.”
