The Black Crowes dug deep into their massive catalog for a rare gem during their concert on Tuesday in Bangor, Maine. Guitarist Rich Robinson led the band’s first performance of “What Is Home” in over a decade at the Maine Savings Amphitheater.

The track solely credited to Rich Robinson was featured on The Black Crowes’ 2009 studio album, Before The Frost…Until The Freeze. Rich’s brother, frontman Chris Robinson, left the stage while his bandmates broke out “What Is Home” as the 12th song of the evening’s 17-song show.

While “What Is Home” had been shelved by The Black Crowes since December 10, 2013, Rich Robinson performed the song regularly at both his solo shows and with his The Magpie Salute project through 2019. He also shared a solo acoustic version on The Black Crowes’ Instagram page in 2020.

Rich Robinson was accompanied by bandmate bassist Sven Pipien along with touring members keyboardist Erik Deutsch, guitarist Nico Bereciartua and drummer Cully Symington for “What Is Home” in Bangor. Backing vocalists Mackenzie Adams and Lesley Grant joined Chris Robinson on the sidelines.

The Black Crowes kicked off the night with “Bedside Manners,” the lone song from their latest LP, 2024’s Happiness Bastards, played in Bangor. The Robinson Brothers and company worked many early classics into the concert, including “Sting Me,” “Wiser Time,” “She Talks To Angels,” “Jealous Again,” “Remedy” and their cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle.” A take on The Rolling Stones’ “Rocks Off” was the lone encore.

The group’s Happiness Bastards (The Reprise) Tour hits Gilford, New Hampshire tonight. The Black Crowes will be on the road until August 9 and then resume the trek for select dates in September.
