Billy Strings Performs ‘Stone Walls & Steel Bars’ For ‘String The Halls’

Billy Strings led his band through “Stone Walls & Steel Bars” for the second installment of his String The Halls: Home For The Holidays Edition charity fundraising video series. “Stone Walls & Steel Bars” was penned by Ray Pennington and Roy Marcum and was first recorded by The Stanley Brothers in 1963.

Strings’ band finds the guitarist backed by Royal Masat, mandolinist Jarrod Walker and banjo player Billy Failing. String The Halls: Home For The Holidays Edition runs through Christmas Day, at which point audio of all 12 performances will be available via nugs.net.

Billy Strings and company debuted their rendition of “Stone Walls & Steel Bars” on April 18, 2019 in Asheville as per Phantasy Tour. Strings’ most recent cover of the song was performed during a Family Strings concert on March 1, 2020 in Ann Arbor.

Proceeds from String The Halls: Home For The Holidays Edition will go towards the Nashville Rescue Mission, Musically Fed and Second Harvest Food Bank Of Middle Tennessee. Posters are available here with a password revealed in the video.
