Billy Strings was the musical guest on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. Strings and his band served up a performance featuring “Red Daisy” from his 2021 album, Renewal.

“Red Daisy” is the Renewal track closest to a traditional bluegrass song. As such, the guitarist and his bandmates dressed the part by sporting western gear including cowboy hats and cool suits akin to what artists such as Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe wore back in the 1950s and 1960s.

Mandolinist Jarrod Walker penned “Red Daisy” with Christian Ward. Strings, Walker, banjoist Billy Failing and bassist Royal Masat debuted the song live on February 19, 2021 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York as part of their “The Déjà Vu Experiment” run of livestream concerts. “Red Daisy” has been a staple of the quartet’s live performances ever since.
