Billy Strings wrapped a three-night run at 1stBank Center, in Broomfield, Colorado on Saturday night. After the show, Strings headed into Denver to sit in with Electric Dead Grass at Knew Conscious.

Electric Dead Grass, which celebrates the music of the Grateful Dead and others, is led by The Terrapin Family Band guitarist Ross James, Leftover Salmon banjo player Andy Thorn, Circles Around The Sun drummer Mark Levy and The Motet bassist Garrett Sayers. The foursome started the show with “Rosa Lee McFall” and “Pig In A Pen.”

Prior to Strings jumping in with the group, his bandmates, banjoist Billy Failing and fiddler Alex Hargreaves, came out with Electric Dead Grass. The pair of auxiliary players joined in on “Jack-A-Roe,” “Catfish John” and “Althea.” James then helmed a run through “Brown-Eyed Women” before bringing Strings onstage.

Strings’ guest spot kicked off with Johnny Cash’s “Big River.” Next came Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting In Limbo,” which was part of Jerry Garcia’s solo repertoire. The collaboration came to a close with Peter Rowan/New Riders Of The Purple Sage’s “Panama Red.”

Following Strings’ appearance, Electric Dead Grass filled in the rest of their set with an uninterrupted sequence of “Help On The Way” into “Slipknot” into “Midnight Moonlight” into “The Music Never Stopped” into “Black Peter” into “Throwing Stones.” The late-night performance that bled into the early hours of Sunday morning was capped with an encore consisting of “One More Saturday Night.”

A free rebroadcast of Saturday’s guest-filled Electric Dead Grass show will stream on couchtour.tv tomorrow, Wednesday, February 8 at 9 p.m. ET. Watch Strings joining in on “Big River” in the clip below:
