Billy Strings Covers Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Proud Mary’ At Grey Fox In 2019

Less Than Face Productions shared video of Billy Strings covering Creedence Clearwater Revival. Billy tackled the Creedence classic “Proud Mary” during his July 18 set at the 2019 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.

“Proud Mary” appears on CCR’s 1969 album, Bayou Country, and was also famously covered by Ike & Tina Turner. At Grey Fox, Billy and his band mates — bassist Royal Masat, banjoist Billy Failing and mandolin player Jarrod Walker — delivered a scorching bluegrass version featuring killer harmonies and solos all around.
