Next time you check into a hotel, it might be worth looking to see if Billy Strings happens to be participating in a jam session. The guitarist went on Instagram live last night to stream another hotel room-picking party, this time with banjo master Béla Fleck joining the fun … and Widespread Panic’s John Bell was on hand to oversee the collaboration.
Strings will begin a three-night run in Broomfield, Colorado tonight, Thursday, February 2. Fleck is also set to play the first of three shows in Colorado tonight and last night, the pair of pickers held an impromptu jam session at a Colorado hotel.
Billy Strings Hotel Jams
Strings is set to play three concerts at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield outside Denver. Fleck and his wife Abigail Washburn will perform tonight with The Colorado Symphony up in the mountains at Vilar PAC in Beaver Creek. Fleck, Washburn and The Colorado Symphony will then perform together at Denver’s Boettcher Hall on Friday and Saturday. Next on Bell’s schedule are three Widespread Panic shows in Durham, North Carolina kicking off on Thursday, February 9.
Other participants in the hotel jam were Strings’ bandmates, banjoist Billy Failing, bassist Royal Masat, mandolinist Jarrod Walker and fiddler Alex Hargreaves. Strings posted a montage of photos and video clips from Wednesday’s jam and @phishonphilm captured part of the livestream. View the scenes from last night below:
