Bill Kreutzmann’s Billy & The Kids Expand Dead On The Rocks Run At Red Rocks
While the core quintet will be joined by guitarist Billy Strings and saxophonist James Casey for both "Dead On The Rocks" concerts, don't expect a tour from the ensemble.
Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann‘s Billy & The Kids band confirmed a second “Dead On The Rocks” concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on Monday, July 12 featuring special guests Billy Strings and James Casey. The show on July 12th was added after tickets to the ensemble’s July 13th performance “sold out in seconds.”
Billy & The Kids features the drummer along with bassist Reed Mathis, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Tom Hamilton and The Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner. The “Dead On The Rocks” shows are Billy & The Kids’ first public performances since a 2016 appearance at the Wanee Festival.
Strings and Casey initially paired with Billy & The Kids last month for a series of three “Grateful Mahalo: Billy Kreutzmann’s 75th Birthday Pa’ina” livestream concert specials filmed in Kauai, Hawaii. An announcement shared on the band’s social feeds noted, “This will not be a tour.”
Tickets for the July 12th concert go on sale tomorrow (Thursday, June 17) at 10 a.m. MT via AXS.com.
