Billy Joel’s monthly residency at Madison Square Garden continued in New York City on Monday night. The concert saw Joel pay tribute to renowned singer Tony Bennett, who died last week at the age of 96.
Joel dedicated a performance of “New York State Of Mind” to Bennett, who was born in New York City in 1926. The song originally appeared on Joel’s 1976 album Turnstiles. Bennett recorded a version of “New York State Of Mind” with Joel for the former’s 2001 album Playin’ With My Friends: Bennett Sings The Blues.
