Béla Fleck & My Bluegrass Heart Perform ‘Strider’ In Denver: Pro-Shot Video

Béla Fleck is currently on tour in support of My Bluegrass Heart, the renowned banjoist’s recently released album. Fleck shared pro-shot video of a performance of the album track, “Strider,” from a recent tour stop in Denver.

The footage comes from the December 4 concert at the Paramount Theatre. Joining Fleck was the all-star lineup of dobro player Jerry Douglas, mandolinist Sam Bush, bassist Edgar Meyer, guitarist Bryan Sutton and fiddler Stuart Duncan.

My Bluegrass Heart, which was recently nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album, completed a trilogy of Fleck’s bluegrass releases that includes 1988’s Drive and 1999’s The Bluegrass Sessions. An illness that threaten the life of one of Fleck’s young children inspired Fleck to record My Bluegrass Heart.

“For some reason after that, I found myself suddenly really wanting to do a bluegrass record,” Fleck said on The JamBase Podcast. “I think part of it was wanting to reconnect with your community. Another part might have been feeling like you can be in control of something, which you can’t be in life that often. Suddenly, I was compelled. I’d been waiting and putting it off and putting it off and suddenly I was like, ‘I better do this! I gotta do this! I wanna do this! I’m doing this!’”
