Beck & Matt Shultz Perform ‘Night Running’ At Shoreline

Beck and Cage the Elephant are currently in the midst of their co-headlined summer tour. On July 16, both groups headed to Mountain View, California’s Shoreline Amphitheatre with support from Spoon and Starcrawler. During the Tuesday showcase, Beck welcomed Cage the Elephant’s lead singer Matt Shultz for the live debut of their recent collaboration, “Night Running.”

Midway through the set, following a take on “Where It’s At” off 1996’s Odelay, Beck welcomed Shultz to the stage. Both singers worked through “Night Running,” which also appeared on Cage The Elephant’s latest album Social Cues. From there, Beck offered up a number of covers, including those by The Stooges, Rolling Stones, Talking Heads and Chic, before closing out the night with a series of originals: “In The Air Tonight,” “One Foot In The Grave” and “Where’s It At.”

Ahead of the guest cameo, Beck offered up a series of fan-favorites throughout the first half of his set. After opening with perhaps his most well-known track, “Loser,” from 1994’s Mellow Gold, he ran through a dozen originals, plus a cover of The Korgis’ “Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime.”
