Barry Manilow revealed that a stage-one cancerous tumor was spotted on his left lung. The 82-year-old vocalist pushed back a series of 10 arena shows to allow him time to recover from upcoming surgery to have the cancer removed.
Manilow is expected to make a full recovery following the surgery and a month of recovery. No further treatment is expected according to his doctors, who are optimistic thanks to the early detection.
“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” wrote Manilow on Instagram for a post announcing his condition. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”
“It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early,” the singer added. “That’s the good news.”
“The bad news is that now that the Christmas A Gift Of Love concerts are over I’m going into surgery to have the spot removed,” continued Manilow. “The doctors do not believe it has spread and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”
Barry Manilow is scheduled to return to the stage for his Valentine’s weekend concerts February 12 – 14, 2026 at Westgate Las Vegas. “Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party!” Manilow predicted.
Dates previously scheduled for January are now slated to take place between February 27 and April 29. Scroll below for a full list of Barry Manilow’s rescheduled tour dates.
