Bahamas (Afie Jurvanen) announced My Second Last Album, due out on October 24 via Brushfire Records. The singer-songwriter and guitarist previewed the LP with “The Bridge,” a co-write with Hiss Golden Messenger‘s M.C. Taylor.
Afie Jurvanen made his previous record, 2023’s country-tinged Bootcut, in Nashville. For My Second Last Album, the singer-songwriter “chose to stay home in Nova Scotia and casually record some songs with no agenda,” as per press materials.

Teaming with co-producer and multi-instrumentalist Joshua Van Tassel, Bahamas cut his upcoming LP in Van Tassel’s DreamDate Studio, “a backyard shed barely big enough to house the equipment and the two musicians,” as per the press release. The duo played all the instruments and allowed the songs room to breathe.
Jurvanen’s relocation from the hustle and bustle of Toronto to the relative quiet of Nova Scotia also informed My Second Last Album, as did family life. The press materials further detailed the record:
That lifestyle seeps into the album’s lyrical tone and relaxed vibe. Jurvanen explores life as a father (“Only Inspiration”), husband (“Shadows”), immigrant’s son (“In Country”), ever-evolving human (“Ready For A New Thing”) and a free-spirited soul (“Feels So Good”) — awake to the world with a keen sense of perspective.
