Axl Rose & Slash Reunite Guns N’ Roses In Los Angeles

Last night, the classic lineup of Guns N’ Roses took the stage together for a surprise warm-up concert at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. The show marked the first time lead singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash performed together since 1993.
For last evening’s performance – which was announced hours ahead of the confirmation of the upcoming Not In The Lifetime Tour – Rose, Slash and fellow classic lineup member bassist Duff McKagan were joined by keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese, drummer Frank Ferrer and guitarist Richard Fortus. The setlist reportedly focused largely on material from GNR’s 1987 debut Appetite For Destruction, opening with “It’s So Easy” and “Mr. Brownstone,” but also including Slash’s first performance of “Chinese Democracy” and tracks from Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. The set also saw a few covers played, such as Wings’ “Live & Let Die,” Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and The Who’s “The Seeker.”
Audio and video recording – including using cell phones – was not allowed at The Troubadour, but a few clips and photos have begun to surface. YouTube user rossthebassist compiled a number of audience-shot videos in the highlight reel below:
