The Avett Brothers made the decision to postpone their New Year’s Eve show at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina following the spike in COVID-19 cases due to the Omicron variant. A new date is currently in the works and details of the rescheduled show will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Out of concern for the safety and well-being of our fans, the employees at the Greensboro Coliseum, our crew, and the band, we have decided to postpone this year’s New Year’s Eve show,” wrote the band in a note on their social feeds. “It is also important that we not add to the burden that the already-overwhelmed hospitals and healthcare workers are facing in North Carolina.”

The Avett Brothers have a long history of performing New Year’s Eve concerts in their home state of North Carolina. Greensboro Coliseum hosted the group’s last in-person NYE show on December 31, 2019.
