The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton performed songs from their collaborative album, AVTT/PTTN, at New York City’s Loreto Theater. Hosted by the Grammy Museum, the concert was billed as “A New York Evening With The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton (AVTT/PTTN).”
AVTT/PTTN was recorded by brothers Scott Avett and Seth Avett and the Faith No More/Mr. Bungle frontman. The album was released earlier this month and contained eight new original songs co-written by Patton and the Avetts, along with their interpretation of “The Ox Driver’s Song.”
The Avetts’ bandmates – bassist Bob Crawford, cellist Joe Kwon, drummer Mike Marsh, fiddler Tania Elizabeth and keyboardist Bonnie Avett-Rini – were part of the AVTT/PTTN performance in NYC. The four-song setlist consisted of AVTT/PTTN originals, “Dark Night Of My Soul,” “Heaven’s Breath,” “Eternal Love” and “Received.”
AVTT/PTTN will make their late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon episode airing on NBC tonight, Wednesday, November 26. The Avetts and Patton will spend the first half of next year touring in support of the collaborative album.
Actor/comedian Eric André was supposed to lead a pre-performance discussion with the musicians, but backed out due to illness. Watch the full four-song set via the audience-captured video below:
