The Avett Brothers Honor Tom Petty In Iowa

Harrah’s Stir Cove in Council Bluffs, Iowa hosted a concert by The Avett Brothers last night. Thursday’s show began with the band paying tribute to Tom Petty by covering one of his classic songs.

The Avetts kicked off their set with a performance of “You Don’t Know How It Feels,” the hit single on Petty’s 1994 solo effort Wildflowers. It was one of two covers performed last evening as a few songs later the band offered a rendition of George Jones’ “The Race Is On.”

The rest of The Avett Brothers’ show in Council Bluffs consisted of favorites from throughout their career. Their performance of “You Don’t Know How It Feels” was captured by Bridgett W, watch the tribute here:
