Audio, Videos & Setlist: Circles Around The Sun Performs Live For 2nd Time

By Scott Bernstein Nov 23, 2016 8:29 am PST

Guitarist Neal Casal and his Circles Around The Sun outfit played their second ever concert and began their first multi-show run on Tuesday night at The Hamilton in Washington, D.C. Casal, keyboardist Adam MacDougall, drummer Mark Levy and bassist Dan Horne rolled through five lengthy instrumental compositions Neal originally put together as intermission music at last year’s Fare Thee Well – Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead concerts.

Circles Around The Sun started out with a 30-minute version of “Scarlotta’s Magnolias” and then moved on to “Saturday’s Children,” “Gilbert’s Groove,” “Farewell Franklin’s” and “Space Wheel.” All five songs were played by the quartet during their only other live performance, back in August at the Lockn’ Festival. Audio and video of last night’s concert has surfaced.

Listen to “Farewell Franklin’s” taped by Alex Leary and head here for the entire show:
