Genre-defying artist Aoife O’Donovan recently returned to The Kelly Clarkson Show. O’Donovan led an all-star band through “Someone To Follow” on Tuesday’s episode.
“Someone To Follow” is featured on O’Donovan’s imminent new album, All My Friends. The follow-up to the singer-songwriter’s Grammy-nominated 2022 LP, Age Of Apathy, arrives this Friday, March 22 via Yep Roc Records.

All My Friends is inspired by the women’s liberation movement of the past 100 years. O’Donovan wrote new, original songs for the effort that pulled text penned by suffragist Carrie Chapman Catt. The album was co-produced by O’Donovan, Eric Jacobsen and Darren Schneider. She recorded the bulk of the record during sessions held at Full Sail University in Orlando as well as New York City facilities Brooklyn Recording and Power Station.
Aoife O’Donovan beautifully sings “Someone To Follow” and strums acoustic guitar for The Kelly Clarkson Show performance. O’Donovan is backed by musicians Philip Krohnengold (Sara Bareilles, Madison Cunningham) on accordion, Noam Pikelny of Punch Brothers on banjo, longtime Andrew Bird collaborator Alan Hampton on electric bass and Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith. The mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation is par for Aoife’s course.
