Anders Osborne recently announced the release of Buddha And The Blues, the first of three planned studio albums for 2019, on April 26 via Back On Dumaine Records. The singer-songwriter has shared the LP’s lead single, “Traveling With Friends.”

Osborne wrote the tune while he was on vacation with his family in St. Thomas. The New Orleans-based musician shared the following with Billboard, who premiered the song, about its origin:

“We had this amazing rental property we lucked into; It didn’t look like much when we rented it, but when we get there it’s right on top of this mountain, looking out over the ocean. I was sitting up there and I had this perspective of how it’s amazing that we’re still here — that’s one of the lines in there. I felt amazed that through all the stuff that happens, most of my friends and acquaintances, we’re still here, we’re still doing our thing. I just felt a lot of gratitude for that and put it into the song.”

Buddha And The Blues was recorded with producer Chad Cromwell at Brethern Studios in Ojai, California. Osborne put together a band for the LP that includes Cromwell on drums as well as famed studio musicians guitarist Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, Linda Rondstadt, Warren Zevon), bassist Bob Glaub (Jackson Browne, John Lennon, Don Henley), Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ keyboardist Benmont Tench and backing vocalist Windy Wagner (Ringo Starr, Rod Stewart).
