Railroad Earth welcomed Greensky Bluegrass dobroist Anders Beck for three songs at the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, Philadelphia on Thursday night. Beck emerged for a pair of tunes at the end of RRE’s first set and returned to augment the band on their encore.

The New Jersey-bred jamgrass act harkened back to their early days by opening the show with a run of “Donkey For Sale,” “Bread & Water” and “Hunting Song.” RRE then pulled “Day On The Sand” from their 2010 self-titled studio album and went back to older material with a performance of “For Love.” Next, Beck emerged to help the group, who were augmented by multi-instrumentalist Mike Robinson all night, on “Grandfather Mountain” and “Elko.”

Philadelphia-area Hobos were treated to Amen Corner gem “Been Down This Road” and old school favorites “Saddle of The Sun” and “Old Dangerfield” to start the second set. It was then back to 2008’s Amen Corner for “Crossing The Gap” before the band performed the title track from 2004’s The Good Life. Railroad Earth didn’t just stick to classics as they followed “Crossing The Gap” with “The Great Divide,” the lead single from their forthcoming All For The Song LP. Last night’s closing stanza ended with a seamless run of “Where Songs Begin,” “Fisherman’s Blues,” “The Jupiter & The 119,” “Like A Buddha” and “Monkey.”

When Railroad Earth returned for the encore, they were once again joined by Anders Beck. Anders and RRE teamed up for a cover of Tim O’Brien & Darrell Scott’s “Walk Beside Me” to close out the evening. Watch pro-shot video of the entire show via nugs.net below:
