Amos Lee brought a revised lineup of his backing band to a downtown New York City loft on July 17 to perform for The Soho Sessions video series. Lee has released video featuring live performances of two songs featured on his excellent new album, Transmissions, from the set.
The Philadelphia based-singer songwriter was accompanied for The Soho Sessions by guitarist Adam Minkoff, multi-instrumentalist Zach Djanikian, bassist Solomon Dorsey, drummer Lee Falco and keyboardist Jaron Olevsky. Minkoff, whose many credits include performing with Amy Helm and Dweezil Zappa, had just joined Amos Lee’s talented ensemble less than a week prior. The guitarist is also a The Soho Sessions house band member, so despite the new gig he seemed remarkably comfortable.

Transmissions arrived last month and was recorded by Lee and the members of his band sans Minkoff and Dorsey. The 12-track LP was recorded at a studio Lee Falco and the drummer’s father built out of reclaimed wood from an old church near Woodstock in rural Marlboro, New York.
Out now from Amos Lee’s Soho Sessions set are performances of Transmissions cuts “Built To Fall” and “Carry You On.” The former is a pensive number showcasing Lee’s voice and beautiful harmonies from Dorsey and Minkoff. The breathtaking “Carry You On” was penned by Amos Lee in the wake of a dear friend’s death.
