Allison Russell Performs ‘Nightflyer’ On ‘Ellen’

Brandi Carlile guest-hosted the latest installment of 'Ellen's final season.

Singer-songwriter Allison Russell appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. Russell performed her Grammy-nominated song “Nightflyer” on an episode guest-hosted by Brandi Carlile.

“Nightflyer” is featured on Allison Russell’s 2021 debut solo album, Outside Child. While Outside Child vies for Best Americana Album on Sunday at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, “Nightflyer” is nominated in the Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots Performance categories.

The singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist previously joined forces with Carlile and Brittney Spencer last May to make her late night television debut with a “Nightflyer” performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. On Ellen, Russell was backed by a string section featuring SistaStrings and MZTZA, guitarists Joy Clark and Mandy Ferrarini as well as drummer Elizabeth Goodfellow. The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently in the midst of its final season.
