Railroad Earth kicked off their 2019 Horn O’Plenty Thanksgiving run at Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on Friday. RRE welcomed virtuosic violinist Alex Hargreaves during the first set.
Railroad pulled out of the station with “Walk Beside Me” into “Black Elk Speaks.” Other highlights included “Right In Tune” segueing into “Black Bear,” on which Hargreaves would make his first appearance alongside RRE fiddler Tim Carbone. After “Any Road,” RRE closed out the set with “Slippin’ Away” into “Chasin’ A Rainbow” featuring Hargreaves once again.
Railroad got the second set underway with “Been Down This Road” from the band’s 2008 album Amen Corner. The set contained a number of interesting segues including “Shockenaw Mountain Breakdown” into “Dandelion Wine,” “The Forecast” into “Hangtown Halloween Ball” and “12 Wolves” into “Hard Livin’.” RRE closed out the second set with the favorite “Long Way To Go.”
The band retook the stage for the traditional bluegrass tune “Pig In A Pen” and their own “Everything Comes Together” to close out the evening. Check out footage of “Black Bear” with Alex Hargreaves captured by linzhunter09 below:
