Earlier this year we told you about 12-year-old piano prodigy Owen York who wowed Umphrey’s McGee fans with an impromptu performance in NYC and later with an impressive medley of UM songs he shared. York recently followed in the footsteps of UM, who will soon release an album of mashups entitled ZONKEY, by arranging and performing a mashup of his own.

Owen has unveiled his four-and-a-half minute mashup “Killing In the Name Of Attachments Under Pressure,” which includes elements of 1981’s gigantic hit “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie as well as Rage Against the Machine’s 1992 smash “Killing In the Name” and Umphrey’s original “Attachments.” Watch “Killing In the Name Of Attachments Under Pressure”:

York has done mashups before, most notably his two-and-a-half minute “Dream On Smells Like Cemetery Walk” back in January 2015. That performance saw him combine Aerosmith’s 1973 chart-topper “Dream On” with the iconic 1991 Nirvana song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and Umphrey’s McGee’s “Cemetery Walk II”:

This past summer Owen unveiled a Radiohead mashup that was viewed more than 7,500 times by fans who responded from North and South America, Europe, and Asia.

In the fall, York will begin his second year in Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble, an extraordinary group of students from New York and New Jersey. Owen is the ensemble’s pianist and its youngest member.
