You might recall that back in July we first reported that the famous actor contributed guitar to the B-side of “Gimme Something Good,” a song titled “Aching For More.” Depp chatted with Iggy Pop about his friendship with Adams in a recent issue of Interview, “I’ve been writing and recording with Ryan Adams a lot lately. Ryan is incredibly prolific and he’s just a pure soul, he’s just this being. He’s got a great handle on it. And is taking good care of himself. But what a talent, man. I’m amazed by the f**ker.”
Adams is as fond as Depp as Johnny is of Ryan. “There was one night when Bob Mould was in town, and Johnny, my friend, the actor, and we jammed – we had this amazing jam that had to have lasted nine hours. We met in the afternoon and it lasted until 3 am. Johnny was playing bass for some of it, I played the bass for some of it – we’re basically Die Kreuzen right now, by way of Minneapolis, by way of Los Angeles. Total, otherworldly weird jams. Everybody that’s interested in the jams are interested in the song construct,” Ryan told the Wall Street Journal.
