Cover Alert | Tea Leaf Trio Offer Plenty Of Covers

Mickey Hart Band is currently on the road with Reed Mathis handling bass duties. Mathis brought his Tea Leaf Green band mates Trevor Garrod and Cochrane McMillan on the tour to open each show. We weren’t sure what to expect from this “Tea Leaf Trio,” but the first recording of the group to surface finds them offering interpretations of four classic rock covers and a TLG original.

Reed, Trevor and Cochrane kicked off their five-song set at Minneapolis’s Mill City Nights last week with The Beatles’ “Mother Nature’s Son” and continued on with a Garrod-led “Starman” (David Bowie). The John Lennon solo gem “Grow Old With Me” leads into the aforementioned original, “Someday,” and a version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “America” that’s unlike any cover of the iconic song we’ve ever heard.

Take a listen to the Tea Leaf Trio’s cover-filled set in Minneapolis thanks to taper Cliff Morse:
