The Cold War was done, the Gulf War just begun and somewhere in the heart of Brooklyn, Medeski Martin and Wood were born in the sun. Playing music together for the first time that summer there was an instant connection - described by all three as being very natural, very organic and very strong. As complicated as their individual pasts might have been up to that point, their collective future together as a band had just become extremely simple - stick together and make music. This is exactly what happened.
