The Tragically Hip Tour

The Tragically Hip
The Tragically Hip - the much-revered quintet known for their "vigorous and often improvisational live shows" (WXPN)- will kick off their 11-city, 19-date tour May 7 at Philadelphia's Fillmore at Theatre of Living Arts (TLA) and wrap June 17 at Seattle's Moore Theatre.

The band, of whom one pundit said "If the Rolling Stones and R.E.M. were to have sex, the result would be a five-headed baby called The Tragically Hip," are a national treasure in Canada and a favorite amongst music critics and fans for their stirring lyrics and powerful rock sounds. Led by the dynamic frontman and main songwriter Gordon Downie, the group has sold over 6 million albums worldwide, sold out concert stadiums across North America and Canada and retained a fiercely dedicated fan base in their 25+ years together.

The Tragically Hip's twelfth studio album We are the Same is out April 7 on Rounder Records.

"You said you didn't give a fuck about hockey...I never saw someone say that before!" These guys rip. No minnesota shows, but its so close to the motherland, bummer.

Why don't these guys do some festivals? I first say these guys at Woodstock 99 and they were unbelievably great. They're a wonderful element to add to Festivals...

Gord Downie is the Best Song Writer of our generation. His is a Canadian Poetic Icon. As a Canadian I urge you Americans to check these guys out before its too late. These guys are as important to Canadian music history as The Band. To the Canadians out there, the tour also extends north of the border include multi-day stops in some key cities. I guess Jambase cannot post Canadian show dates in this economic climate (fuckin' cutbacks)

Definately a national treasure. I believe they're the best band in Canada and we need more people south of the border to give them a lesson in Hipology. If you get a chance to check them out make the trip. I'll be at both Detroit shows.

i live a block away from artpark, this was on the cover of the buffalo news yesterday. All four shows will undoubtedly sell out as the y do everyyear they play artpark. Poetry in blue collar rock and roll is a hard thing to find these days and the hip have always done it right. As for artpark truly one of my favorite places anywhere set along the mighty niagara.

quite possibly one of the most underrated/best unknown (to most people in the states) bands out there...spent my childhood on the Canadian border listening to these fellas...never disappointed...count me in on this tour...

I also saw these guys @ 10klf, and thought they were just OK. I know that people who like this band tend to really like this band. Please recomend an album or two to check out.

i've been seeing these guys live, mostly in the south lately, since '94. i've seen them with 80'000 of my closest friends in ontario and with a couple 100 at the 40 watt. They always deliver and Gord is an endlessly entertaining front man.

they have announced they are doing two set shows this tour which is something new and will hopefully have them exploring their jammy side.

-album rec's. i would go with Fully Completely and Poets as the two best. They put out the two disc Yer Favorites which is obviously a solid retrospective.
