New Meat Puppets Album

Meat Puppets
Everyone from Nirvana to Pavement to Stone Temple Pilots cite the Meat Puppets as one of the most significant American bands. Sewn Together, the group's follow-up to 2007's Rise To Your Knees, will be released on May 12, 2009 on Megaforce Records. The Meat Puppets will debut songs from their forthcoming release during SXSW at Stubb's BBQ on March 19. Recorded at The Saltmine in Phoenix, Arizona in winter 2008, the album features the Kirkwood Brothers with drummer Ted Marcus.

The highly influential Meat Puppets started as a punk rock band, but established their own unique style, blending punk with country and psychedelic rock. Meat Puppets later gained significant exposure when Chris and Curt Kirkwood served as guest musicians on Nirvana's MTV Unplugged performance in 1993. The band's subsequent album Too High to Die went gold, selling over 500,000 albums, and became their most successful release. The band reunited in 2006.

A lil' taste of live Puppets from last year to tide you over…

Sweet, I hope this album is on point. I have a bunch of stuff by them, I love some of it, and other stuff is alright. I just want them to tour so I can see them live!!!

I saw them live last winter and thought the show was awesome!

I did not see them at moe. down but i listened to the recording of them playing with moe. and I thought it sounded pretty cool.

These guys bring it live and they are legends

monsters is a great album, but i can't speak for anything that they've done past the mid 90's. didn't someone die in this group

I dont think anyone died.

Last i knew the bass player had been in jail but got out a few years ago. I dont think the original drummer is with them

I am very stoked by the positive comments on this article. I was worried there would be a lot of negative nancys coming out of the woodwork. I gotta give this a listen.

the performance may have not been up to par, but these guys were at moe.down for a reason - they're a huge influence on moe. anyone who is skeptical should pick up 1985's "up on the sun." you'll hear it right away.

bubbarock one died...just some drug issues/rehab...great to have them back! Been a long time coming...Kurt Cobain would be happy knowing the Kirkwood Bros are rocking again.

Absolutely moejoe - I'm a huge fan of both bands and seeing them jam together was amazing!! Hopefully the Puppets do a nice long summer tour.

MrOysterhead, just because a band doesnt jam for 15 minutes + on every song doesnt mean they suck. It means you suck.

Great news! Good to see the bros Kirkwood making great new music again. Their "comeback" tour in '07 was the highlight of the year, the Puppets sounded so killer. AZ's greatest band rises the Phoenix...

Yes that tour was AMAZING! Bud Gaugh and Kris Novoselik or whatever hjis name is made for a great lil rythm section for mr kirkwood. and damn the album they recorded, albeit their only one with that lineup, was absulutely mind boggling. only wish it all could have lasted longer.
