God, I try to bite my tongue, but some of you people are truly morons. Ben Sollee's new album is magnificent. He's also in Abigail Washburn's Sparrow Quartet along with Bela Fleck. Please remove your heads from your asses and stop commenting on how "unknown" an artist is, that's what JamBase is for, to try to expose you to music beyond what you already know. If you don't want to read about an artist then just don't click the link and instead spend your time reading the 12th story this month on your favorite band that's doing the same thing they were the last 11 times you read about them. Feel free to call me what you like, but you really just show your stupidity when you comment as you people have.

Almost as fruity-looking as his music.

Just listened to "Dear Kanye", thought it was cheesey. If we are going on looks, he's got my vote for douche of the week! If we're going on the music he's still got my vote for douche of the week!

I just pulled up his album on Rhapsody and I really enjoyed it. Great instrumentation and a pretty good song crafting.

It's amazing how folks will just make themselves look the fool with no prodding. Ben Sollee is far from unknown - even just reading the blurb in this article, noted by JamBase as their "new favorite band" for the monthly newsletter, one of Paste's 25 Best of What's Next, and one of NPR's Greatest Unknown of 2007, not to mention in a band with Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn. Dude is an incredible musician (you don't play in a band w/ Fleck if you're not) and his debut album is full of amazing songs and inventive instrumentation. He may be new, but not unknown. And shit, isn't that part of why you come to this site, to find out about NEW music, not just music you already know... like i said, some folks just feel the need to announce their stupidity. kinda funny really.
