Brightblack Morning Album/Tour

Brightblack Morning Light Motion To Rejoin & Crystal Totem Turr

Brightblack Morning Light
The nomadic duo of Naybob Shineywater and Rachael Hughes, who make up Brightblack Morning Light, are currently living in rural New Mexico, finalizing their sophomore album Motion To Rejoin. The album was recorded entirely with solar power and features vintage keyboards, traditional Native American instrumentation, slide guitar, horns, and a variety of percussion.

The band's 2006 breakthrough debut full length was met with incredibly warm reception:

*marvelously hypnotic* [NY Times]
*invents a new genre: freak funk * [Blender]
*not so much songs as soulful exhales...timeless* [Resonance]
*all the psychedelic drive of Miles Davis -Bitches Brew-, only slower* [The Fader]
*make Galaxie 500 sound like death metal* [CMJ]

Motion to Rejoin is out September 23 on Matador Records. Check out the song "Hologram Buffalo" from the forthcoming release at or just stream 'er with our embed below.

Groovatronics - WOW get a little fired up over nothing because somebody made a comparison you disagree with? Calling everybody in the Jam Scene ignorant because we have a strong love for the bands we listen to is by far the STUPIDEST and most ingorant comment I have heard on here.

alright, i didn't mean to give such an over-the-top generalization, as the people vary greatly no matter what the scene, but i just got a litle fired up because it seems so common in the jam world for people to base EVERY musical opinion off of their collection of 20 cds that cover 14 bands. it's just like on the new article on that book, how someone said if there's no phish in the top 1,000 then they have completely disregarded everything else the author has to say. don't you think that is a bit closed-minded?
