in response to bigfro, daft punk's albums are all their own music. i've never seen them live, and have only gotten into them within the last few years, but their music is incredible if your into electronic music (even if your not!) check it out: my favorite studio disc is "homework" and "alive 2007" is a great live example of there recent live work.

daft punk has been known to sample other peoples' music. The guitar riff from Robot Rock is sampled from a song called "Release The Beast" by Breakwater. They are definitely the pioneers of the movement.

DAFT PUNK'S DISCOVERY ALBUM IS THEIR BEST STUDIO WORK. at least thats what i feel. the bass line to their song voyager gets me movin every fucking time. yea i've gotten into them within the past year or two and i still cant get enough. as an asspiring dj they are my fucking idols. ALIVE 1997 and ALIVE 2007 are both fucking awesome, but ALIVE 1997 is alot more raw. MY DREAM IS TO BE AT AN UNDERGROUND DAFT PUNK RAVE WITH A COUPLE HUNDRED PEOPLE IN AN ABANDONED WAREHOUSE. THAT WOULD BE UNSPEAKABLE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the REAL Daft Punk DVD.

An awesome French guy named Matthieu asked everyone at the Daft Punk show in France last year to send him their footage. He cut together a Fan DVD of Alive 2007, their entire show, plus encore.

Here is the torrent:

Get this shit out people!!! It's too incredible.

I'll check it out...though I think they should probably stick to makeing music. Seeing Daft Punk last year was quite possibly the highlight of my summer, or even my musical year. What an intense show, the ultimate audio and visualy combo. It was truly a sensory overload...and I liked it. I sure hope the leather-clad robots hit the road in North America again soon, if not, I'm down to jump continents for a robot-run rave.

sexauer, you couldnt be more incorrect. Majority of DP music is spliced together samples.

I have had this dvd for a while (it was released in europe a while ago) and it is really not worth it even if you are a huge DAFT PUNK fan. Its interesting to see but to buy it would be a huge waste of money....

And if any of you were real daft punk fans you would have already seen Interstellar 55555... which is the film that goes with discovery and if you are a music fan it will blow your fucking mind, so much better than electroama

Maybe I'm not listening to the right thing but I can't stand this music. I love electronic music too. It is overproduced, stale, guitar is really annoying. Isn't this song on a Cadillac commercial also? Pretty lame.

Actually cuttyfives, you are more incorrect. Homework uses very few, if any samples. Discovery and Human After All use samples, but the underlying beats and vocals are mostly produced by them.

lovemusicfood, you're not listening to the right thing. Cadillac commercial = Justice, NOT Daft Punk. Genesis is a great song though, if you don't like that, you may not love electronic music. What electronic music do you enjoy? Check out Daft Punk - Da Funk to see if you like their sound.

you all are stupid, they are dj's of course they use samples, almost all dj's in the world sample other peoples music, its part of being a dj, daft punk is so legit though, their live show is so amazing and you have to respect them because no one puts on a show like them, they are doing somehting no one else does

thanks for backing me up paulygparty. i just bought the new dvd at work. it's got a cool tin case and color booklet of screenshots. i saw this one on the big screen, and i'm definitely enjoying my second viewing. the movie may not be amazing, but great for this first film, and very enjoyable for the die hard fan.
