Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis

Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis: Two Men with the Blues

"These songs, heard this way with this group — that's never been done before. Whatever I'm doing, if you put Wynton and these guys around it, that brings it up to a different level." -Willie Nelson

A first-time collaboration between two American icons, Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis discover common ground in their love of jazz standards and the blues on this sparkling set that brims with spontaneity, congeniality and fun. Two Men with the Blues is now available on Blue Note Records.

Wynton Marsalis – trumpet and vocals
Mickey Raphael - harmonica
Walter Blanding - saxophone
Dan Nimmer - piano

Looks like it was a fortunate pairing after all. Maybe this is when Wynton begins to expand his musical horizons, eh?

Had an early copy of this for a while - it's really amazing actually. "Bright LIghts Big City" and "Georgia on My Mind" both sound liek brand new tunes.

It seems like an odd combo, but after listening to it, you'll be saying, it makes so much sense. The people who got lucky enough to see them perform together over those two nights were very fortunate. I'll be keeping it in rotation for awhile.
