Coldplay Push Back U.S. Dates

Coldplay Push Back U.S. Dates

Coldplay announced today (6/10) that they've been forced to push back some of their upcoming U.S. tour dates. The band have experienced some production delays which mean that the show simply won't be ready for previously scheduled kick-off date of June 29. The band apologized for the inconvenience through their Website and went on to "promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding" when they start in mid-July. All tickets remain valid, but refunds will be available from the point of purchase if you're unable to make it to the new date.

Complete, updated Coldplay tour dates available here.

okay they're not THAT bad. some people want to know about coldplay...just because they're more mainstream than jambands doesn't mean that they have to be automatically shunned. i hear they put on a really good live show and isn't that what this whole site is partially about? informing the people about when good live shows are?

"production delays" - are they waiting until they make good music?

They realized that their show wasn't as good as Radiohead's. Now they have to catch up.

Has anyone listened to the new album? Thanks to Jambase, I was able to stream the album last weekend and it was better than I expected! A little less Chris Martin falsetto, a little more spacey, darker melodies...and they do put on a great live show!

Like many of you, I used to dog these guys- and DMB, and all other mainstream products. However, like "thedrugsdon'twork", as I got older, I started listening to music because I enjoyed it, not because it was dictated by the scene. Now I still enjoy JFJO, Kaki King, The Duo and all those other bands that nobody (outside of this sites regulars) have heard of. But good music is good music- and these guys are good. Does it matter that they aren't on our festival circuit. BTW- Listen to the lyrics of "Birds of a Feather". Phish really speaks to this brainwashing counterculture mentality that many people on this site seem to fall prey to. Thats just my 2 cents. Berate me if you must.

I wonder what the delay is. They always put out good albums, and the shows are good shows. Yes they remain out of the bounds of Jam Nation but they are still a good band.

The reason I don't like these guys isn't because they're not a jamband. It's because THEY SUCK BALLS!!! Oh yeah and Chris Martin sounds like a total douche when he sings.

Thanks shmo-kinn, Well put! And BTW..drugsdontwork/ TCoB..Im 38 and have been in a professional career for the last 15 years. I have grown up and realized what music I liked long ago. I listen to plenty of music outside the jamband scene. I find the news about those bands elsewhere. Do we really need to see what happened to Bonnaroo happen to this site?

boy i hate it when these blow-hards get up on their high horses on here and spout their favorite phrases like "waaaah! this scene is all about drugs! waaaah! you only like it for the drugs! waaaaah! i'm a better person than you because i don't smoke weed! waaaah!" get over yourself, thedrugsdontwork! just because YOU don't get our type of music doesn't make us all stoners, dude. there are plenty of people that go to jam shows for drugs, but plenty more who don't. stop being a snooty tool and got spin a Moby CD up your ass. and the "by-products" comment you made? don't even get me started.

there first record is a classic, second was pretty good, third was pure crap, and this one sounds okay. live show is fun but they aint no radiohead no matter how hard chris martin tries to be Thom Yorke

My dad's speculation: the band is breaking up.

I doubt it...but I wouldn't doubt it. The production of the cd was pushed back months because, after doing 25 takes of a guitar part, Chris kept telling them to do it again. The whole band basically is pissed with Chris, and with this massive tour, he's probably trying to do unearthly things that are dragging it all out. It could be great - but I'm sensing a lot of tension in light of Chris' ego. And I dig coldplay - but I'm spiteful since, with all these changes, they decided just to completely cancel the Omaha show.

who is this the drugsdontwork guy... first off coldplay does suck balls and their new cd is their attempt to sound like the new u2... which is not a good thing... I find that people that like the jamband scene like to dance and have a great time, and a lot of us are college educated and have great jobs, that is how we can pay 250 bucks for a festival ticket, rothbury. Dont go onto a jamband website and criticize jambands, that is stupid. BTW, would he consider DMB an offshoot of Widespread Panic, because they did get their start opening for them... but a totally different style of music...

Please folks, if you don't want to know the latest Coldplay news, don't click on. They're a killer live act that blew me away when they closed Austin City Limits a few years back. No small feat to do after 3 days of insanity.

i think it's funny that the only thing people have against chris martin is that he's a "douche." and just because they're british doesn't mean they're trying to be the new U2 (which would suck, i agree). and of course they're not going to be as good as radiohead...why even compare them? they're different. and i agree, if you don't want the latest coldplay news, don't click on.

People need to stop posting negative comments just because they do not like a particular band. If you don't like them, that is fine. But everyone is entitled to like who they want to. I listen to Jam Bands, Jazz, Classical, Heavy Metal, etc.... All music genres have good bands. Just because a band is not a "jam band" does not mean it sucks. I thought that people on this site are suppost to be open minded. My point is if you do not like a band that is fine but no one cares that you do not like them. SO STOP POSTING NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT A BAND JUST BECAUSE YOU DO NOT LIKE THEM. If you do not like the article written on here, go to another site.

Coldplay isn't a terrible band. I'm sorry they are not. They got I would say...95% of the people on here bashing through their first couple of albums. Jam band on...I'm on it, but if you like music done the right way (aka through merit) you should just shut up for a minute. But..that said I like the radiiohead show reference.....they thought big..but radiohead is the true Pink Floyd of our generation...hate on that biatches.

How about please stop with the CAPS. This is a message board, so if you dont care for a band, this is where you should put your comments. "Stop w/ the negative comments" please, its a message board - people are allowed to be negative. I just wish instead of saying "this band sucks a**", or "he's a douche", they would be a little more intelligent and mature and say exactly why they dont like about the band.

Oh yeah, Coldplay is okay, saw them live once and it was good, I have no prob w/ the article.

Filo - see thats a good reason to me man. I got no problem w/ that. Isnt that alot better than saying I dont like this band because they suck? You explained why you dislike them - cool.

The reason some people get upset when more mainstream acts like Coldplay appear on this site is because some of us remember when this site was Andy Gadiel's Phish page, and the fact that it has changed so much from then is frustrating. But than again, the line between mainstream music and "jambands" is becoming increasingly more and more blurred. Personally, I think this is NOT a good thing, but our whole society is becoming homogonized. I could give two shits about coldplay, or the verve (christ sake, really?). I understand people like those bands, that's their decision and all, but this is supposed to be a jam band oriented site, and those are not jam bands, even if you say their show is so great (which I'm not buying by the way.)

And if the drugs really don't work, stop buying 'em in a Coldplay or The Verve show lot.

I agree with acomma...i dont know why they post news up for coldplay..i havent even heard their new cd yet and i already know it sucks, their new single sounds like a bad techno song from the 80s and they hardly ever tour in the US so screw coldplay, BURNOUT BAND!!!!!

ok hyprlite, lets break down your coment 1 - "i dont know why they post news up for coldplay". the site is called jambase - go see live music. the article is in reference to a tour, by a band, involving live 2 - "i haven't even heard their new cd yet and i already know it sucks" either you are unbelievably close-minded or that statement just flat-out doesn't make sense. i would hope it would be the 3 - "they hardly ever tour the US". they're fuckin' british! man, i dont even know what to guys are too easy....
